LED sequences

Cycling
Four LEDs, only one at a time

Lights cycling means that the device is searching for the network. Hang tight until it connects. If it takes longer than expected, move a little to get a better signal.

You will see a steady light once the device is connected and ready to receive transactions.

Intermitent Lights
One or two LED lights on

This indicates that the device is ready to tap. At times, you may notice a short blink in 30-second intervals, this is normal and should not be a concern.

Blinking Lights
All four LEDs blinking at the same time

This indicates that the device is processing a firmware update and is not able to accept a tap. During this time, the device may beep a few times without any user intervention, this is normal.

All LEDs off
No lights on or flashing

If all LEDs are off, this is more than likely an indication that the device is no longer being powered.

faq

How do I know if the device is on?
A solid green light on the bottom LED indicates the device is on and receiving power.

How many taps can a device accept from the same donor?
The number of taps a card can make is variable depending on the purchase amount and the limits set by the card's financial institution. You can reach out to your financial institution to learn more about what limits apply to you.

How do I issue a tax receipt?
A tax receipt can be issued for any donation over $20.00. To do so, you will want to obtain the last four digits of the card used to confirm the transaction through our dashboard.  Once verified, you can issue them a receipt through your registered charity.

What if someone accidentally tapped and wishes a refund, how do we provide them with one?
Our NFC reader is set to a proximity that requires a physical, card-to-unit tap. This prevents any accidental charges or mistaps. In the rare case that someone asks for a refund, one can be provided. Ask the donor for the last 4 digits of the card they used to make the donation as well as their contact information and reach out to support@tiptappay.com. If confirmed the support team will work with the payment processor to have the donation reversed.

Is any donor information stored on the device?
No. No donor information is kept on the device. The only information that is collected is the last 4 digits of the card number, the card type, and the time of the transaction.

What happens if someone steals the device?
Please report your device as lost or stolen as soon as possible and tiptap can remotely disable the device. You can reach us at 1-888-327-9244 or via email at support@tiptappay.com.

What is the life of the battery?
We have found that our 20Ah battery powering three devices will last a minimum of 22 hours. When powering one device they last approximately 5 days. This may vary depending on how many taps a device.
